At St Mary’s, we believe in nurturing each student’s sense of personal, community, national, and global identity.

History

The History syllabus aims to spark students’ interest and enjoyment in exploring the past. It fosters a critical understanding of historical events and their impact on the present, while developing essential skills in historical inquiry. Through this, students are empowered to become active, informed, and responsible citizens.

Students engage with historical concepts and skills across the following content areas from Kindergarten to Year 6:

Geography

Geography is the study of places and the relationships between people and their environments. It is a rich and interdisciplinary field that draws from the natural sciences, social sciences, and humanities to build a holistic understanding of the world.

Students learn to question why the world is the way it is, reflect on their connections to and responsibilities for the planet, and propose actions that contribute to a socially just and sustainable future.
