English

At St Mary’s, we aim to challenge the creativity, initiative, and ability of each child within a community that celebrates individual uniqueness.

English is a key learning area from Kindergarten to Year 6, and we actively encourage and nurture positive attitudes towards it.

Children’s literacy skills are developed through rich experiences in Speaking, Listening, Reading, Viewing, Writing, and Representing. Our varied curriculum is designed to excite and engage, while catering to each child’s individual needs.

Speaking, listening, reading, and writing each play an essential and interdependent role in communication. We assess student progress using a variety of methods to ensure a comprehensive understanding of their learning journey.

By working in partnership with parents, we foster a love of literature in our students. A positive attitude towards literature enhances learning and contributes to meaningful and successful outcomes.
