Learner Diversity

At St Mary’s, we offer learning support for children who need it. We are committed to making education as inclusive as possible, guided by Catholic values of respect, equity, and social justice.

Supporting Diverse Learners and Students with Disability

The Catholic Schools Broken Bay (CSBB) system is proud of its comprehensive and inclusive support for diverse learners. This includes high potential and gifted students, as well as those with a range of learning needs.

Support services available for students with disability include:

  • Consultation support for class teachers to assist with the provision of reasonable adjustments
  • Specialist services for students with hearing and vision impairments
  • Leadership support to guide the development and implementation of inclusive school models
  • Transition planning support to ensure smooth progression between stages of learning

Learning support is planned in collaboration with parents and teachers, incorporating input from other professionals when appropriate. Support is tailored to each student’s individual needs and aligned with the class teacher’s program. Personalised learning plans are developed, monitored, and adjusted to ensure students thrive.

Students who require additional challenges are also given opportunities to extend their learning. They are encouraged to participate in extracurricular activities and engage in enrichment programs both in and beyond the classroom, such as Maths Challenge, Maths Olympiad, and Public Speaking.
